Ideal Weight Chart

"Ideal" body weight is derived from your height and gender.

The original ideal body weight chart was developed by MET Life in 1943
The chart was derived from mortality research and remains a controversial resource
The weights listed in this table are not goal weights for patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
Most patients achieve weight loss in the range of 50-80% of their excess weight after surgery.
For example, if a woman is 5’4” and weighs 320 lbs., her “ideal weight” averages 120 lbs. She is approximately 200 lbs. above her ideal weight and can expect to lose between 100 and 160 lbs. after weight loss surgery.
